Turkish soldier killed in Syria's Afrin

ANKARA, Feb 17 (KUNA) -- The General Staff of the Turkish Army said Saturday another soldier was killed during the ongoing anti-terror Operation Olive Branch in Afrin region, northwest Syria.
The General Staff vowed in a statement that army will continue the offensive until the area is thoroughly cleared of the terrorist groups such as the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) and the so-called Islamic State (IS).
It noted that a total of 1,595 PYD/PKK and IS terrorists have been killed and 674 targets belonging to PKK, KCK, PYD-YPG and IS, have been destroyed since the start of Operation Olive Branch on January 20, 2018.
Today's fatality took to 32 the death toll of the Turkish army in the operation in addition to 170 injuries, seven civilian deaths and 113 civilian injuries from missile attacks from Afrin region into southern Turkey. (end) rs.gb
