WASHINGTON, Feb 17 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump visited Friday Broward Health North hospital in Florida that has been treating the victims of the high school shooting.
After visiting the hospital, Trump visited Broward County Sheriff's office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he met with Florida Governor Rick Scott, Senator Marco Rubio and law enforcement officials to thank the officers for the "fantastic job" they had done.
According to pool reports, Trump praised the law enforcement and first responders for their response to the school shooting.
Trump was also quoted saying "I'll tell you who appreciates it, too, is the parents. Because I was at the hospital with the parents and they are very thankful for the job. They're in really great shape considering most people would not have been. They are really thankful." Up to 17 people were killed, mostly students, at a Parkland, Florida high school by 19-year-old Nikolaus Cruz, who was expelled from the school for undisclosed disciplinary reasons. (end) si.tg
