Polish MEP removed as vice president of EP

BRUSSELS, Feb 7 (KUNA) -- The European Parliament voted Wednesday to end the term of Polish MEP Ryszard Czarnecki as Vice-President of the EP due to "serious misconduct." The right-wing MEP of the Law and Justice party, in power in Poland, had used a Nazi slur to describe another Polish MEP, Roza Thunm, noted an EP press release.
The proposal to end his term of office as an EP vice president was passed by 447 votes to 196. Czarnecki will remain a MEP , but will no longer be a Vice-President or a member of the Bureau (the body that lays down Parliament's working rules). He will neither represent Parliament on behalf of its President nor chair plenary debates. The EP has 14 vice presidents. (end) nk.rk
