KUWAIT, Feb 5 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti citizen Faleh Al-Azmi, who was detained in Iran, has been released and handed over to a Kuwaiti diplomat, Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Sami Al-Hamad confirmed Monday.
Al-Hamad said a Kuwaiti diplomat received Al-Azmi and would be taking him to Tehran before flying back to Kuwait.
Since his detention, added Al-Hamad, Kuwait Embassy in Tehran has been contacting Iranian officials and authorities to secure Al-Azmi's release.
The foreign ministry in Kuwait also contacted the Iranian ambassador in Kuwait on the same issue, he said. (end)
