Security forces arrest 198 illegal immigrants NW Turkey

ISTANBUL, Feb 2 (KUNA) -- Turkey's Gendarmerie General Command forces arrested 198 undocumented migrants during an operation in Edirne province, northwestern the country, official media reported Friday.
The illegal immigrants were arrested in Bosnakoy, Meric, Ipsala, and Lalapasa districts of Edirne, according to Anadolu Agency.
The arrested, of Palestinian, Moroccan, Syrian, Algerian, Afghan, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi nationalities, were transferred to the migration management authorities in Edirne, it added.
In the last 10 years, Edirne has seen a rise in migrants from Pakistan, Syria, Palestine, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Morocco, Iran, and Iraq. (end) ta.ma
