ANKARA, Jan 27 (KUNA) -- Turkey on Saturday urged the United States to stop supporting Kurdish groups, namely Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria, based in the north of Syria.
Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, in a statement carried by the local media, also called on Washington to take arms it has recently supplied to this Kurdish party and withdraw the party fighters from the northern Syrian town Manbij, located close to Afrin, target of an ongoing Turkish military operation since last Saturday.
Meanwhile, two persons were wounded in a missile fired by the Syrian Kurdistan Party on Turkish town Calis, the official Turkish news agency Anadolu said. The missile fired from Afrin crashed into a five-story building.
Recent missile attacks from Syria on southern Turkey killed three civilians and wounded 50 others. The Turkish Army has lost three deaths and 13 members of the loyal Syrian Free Army in the operation to capture Afrin.
Turkey has been at loggerheads with the United States over a host of issues namely Washington's support for Kurdish groups, the Syrian question and its hosting of a main opposition leader, Fethullah Gulen. (end) rs.rk
