Turkish special forces head to Afrin - Anadolu

ANKARA, Jan 23 (KUNA) -- Turkish special forces crossed Syrian borders towards the northern city of Afrin as part of Operation Olive Branch, which Ankara launched to crack down on separatists Kurds, Anadolu news agency reported Tuesday.
Tanks and armored vehicles carrying elite forces from the Turkish army crossed the borders and heading to Afrin, which has been bombarded by the Turkish forces for few days now, it said.
Meanwhile, the Turkish army declared a border town in Hatay province a restricted security zone for 15 days.
Operation Olive Branch was launched last Saturday to eliminate Kurdish separatists and so-called Islamic State (IS) from Afrin. (end) rs.bs
