KUWAIT, Jan 21 (KUNA) -- 1915 -- The first post-office in Kuwait was inaugurated at the Dixon House patronized by the Indian post mail.
1970 -- The Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issued a decree to approve the demarcation of borders with Saudi Arabia.
1980 -- The Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issued decree No. 6 of 1980 for establishing Kuwait Petroleum Company (KPC). As a state public enterprise KPC is assigned the role of the production of all petroleum and petrochemicals in and outside of Kuwait.
1987 -- An informed source at the Ministry of Defense announced that an uninhabited area in Failaka Island is shelled, without reporting any causalities.
1992 -- The Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issued an Amiri decree assigning Yousif Mohammad Al-Sumait as Chairman and Director General of Kuwait News Agency, KUNA. Al-Sumait assumes the role until being appointed Information Minister six years later.
1995 -- The Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah granted Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito the Order of Mubarak Al-Kabeer for his country's supportive stances towards Kuwait.
2002 -- Kuwait Cement Company launched a new factory with a 145.2 million tons a year capacity.
2003 -- US citizen, Michael Rene, 51, was murdered by Kuwaiti Sami Al-Mutairi near a US military camp in Doha, Kuwait. The attack also resulted in the injury of another US citizen. Al-Mutairi was arrested.
2004 -- Prominent Kuwaiti judicial figure Abdulrahman Al-Waqayan passed away. Al-Wiqayan served as Deputy General between 1968 and 1979 and as chief of the Kuwait Audit Bureau between 1982 and 1995.
2009 -- Qadsiya SC claimed Kuwait's football premier league title for the second time in a row, marking the end of the season with a 1-0 defeat of Kazma.
2014 -- National Assembly agreed on electronic transaction draft law and referred it to cabinet for approval.
2014 -- National Assembly agreed on draft law to transform Kuwait Airways into joint stock company, referred bill to cabinet for approval.
2014 -- Kuwait Oil Company signed USD 275 million agreement with Saudi firm to use electromagnetic technology in oil excavation operations in Kuwait. (end).
