KUWAIT, Jan 20 -- 1962 -- Amir Sheikh Abdallah Al-Salem inaugurates the first assembly tasked with drawing up the ruling system of the state. The last session of this council was held in January 1963.
1963 -- The first ambassador of the Netherlands deliveres credentials to the Amir.
1993 -- Al-Khairan tourist resort, badly damaged during the Iraqi occupation, re-inaugurates at a cost of KD four million.
2003 -- Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Talal Al-Ayyar inaugurates an entertainment center for psychological treatment of orphaned children.
2004 -- Information Minister Mohammad Abulhassan opens Al-Qurain Museum for Martyrs - a symbol of national resistance against the 1990 Iraqi occupation.
2006 -- The price of Kuwaiti crude reaches USD 57.92 per barrel, its highest level since the country started exporting the commodity in the 1940s.
2009 -- World Bank opens office in Kuwait to promote financial and monetary cooperation. (end) hb
