Al-Ghanim departs Egypt, hails visit outcomes

CAIRO, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim and his accompanying parliamentary delegation departed Egypt Friday after meeting with a number of Egyptian top officials, including President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi.
Upon his departure, Al-Ghanim told reporters that he has verbally conveyed a message by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to President Al-Sisi, who also, in return, asked him to convey his greetings to His Highness the Amir.
He also said the discussions he has held with his Egyptian counterpart Dr. Ali Abdelal were fruitful, meaningful, and highlighted the camaraderie between both nations.
Talks tackled coordinating Gulf parliaments with Egyptian parliament as a preparation for coordinating stands in several continental and international parliamentary arenas, said the Kuwaiti chief lawmaker.
On meeting with Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abu Al-Gheit, Al-Ghanim said the meeting was productive and addressed means of cooperation between the Arab League and the regional governments, parliaments, and institutions.
It also discussed ways of boosting the capabilities of the Arab League, Arab parliaments, and the Arab Inter-parliamentary Union (AIPU), he added.
On taking part in Al-Azhar International Conference in Support of Jerusalem, Al-Ghanim expressed his pride in the event, which "saw an unprecedented success" due for the importance of the Palestinian cause and its humanitarian place in the sentiments of not only Arabs and Muslims; but various people around the world.
The Kuwaiti chief lawmaker also expressed his gratitude and appreciation of the Egyptian unlimited generosity and love to the Kuwaiti delegation and people.
He also extended his gratitude to Kuwait's Ambassador Mohammad Al-Thuwaikh and Permanent Representative to the Arab League Ambassador Ahmad Al-Baker for providing all facilitations to the Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation during the visit. (end) ms.ma
