Tillerson to visit Europe for bilateral meetings

WASHINGTON, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will travel to the United Kingdom, France, Poland and Switzerland next week for talks on global security and economic issues. Tillerson is scheduled to have bilateral meetings on January 21-17 in London, Paris, Warsaw and Davos where he will attend the World Economic Forum alongside President Donald Trump, the State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert told reporters on Thursday.
The Secretary will start on January 21 a two-day visit to London to meet with the UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and National Security Advisor Mark Sedwell to discuss security issues of mutual concern, including Iran, Syria, Libya, North Korea and also Ukraine, Nauert said. He will also meet with senior French officials on January 23 for bilateral talks on "global issues of mutual concern and other bilateral issues including Syria, Iran, Lebanon, Libya, North Korea, and Ukraine, in addition to other areas of bilateral interest," according to Nauert.
While in Paris, Tillerson will also attend the launch of the International Partnership Against Impunity for the Use of Chemical Weapons.
The Secretary will then travel to Davos, Switzerland where from January 24-26, he will participate in the 2018 World Economic Forum.
From there he will travel to Warsaw on January 26, where he will meet with senior Polish officials to discuss a range of issues in the strong US-Poland bilateral relationship, including global challenges, regional security and economic prosperity, she added. (end) hy.gb
