GCC General Secretariat hosts meeting for envoys of states backing Yemeni process

JEDDAH, Jan 17 (KUNA) -- The GCC General Secretariat hosted on Wednesday a meeting grouping ambassadors of 19 states that support the Yemeni political process with participation of the UN envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh and the UN General Secretary assistant for political affairs Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Uwaisheq.
The official Saudi Press Agency said the UN envoy reviewed during the meeting latest political developments concerning Yemen, adding that the diplomats affirmed support for the UN efforts to resolve the crisis according to the GCC initiative, outcome of the national dialogue and the Security Council resolution 2216.
The Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Mohammad Al-Jaber, informed the participants in the meeting about the Kingdom decision to deposit USD two billion at the Yemeni Central Bank, backing up a previous deposit amounting to USD one billion.
The envoys praised the Saudi initiative as it would boost the Yemeni economy and help the people cope with economic difficulties, caused by the Houthi militias. (end) nh.rk
