Myanmar, Bangladesh agree on resolving refugees' issue

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 16 (KUNA) -- Myanmar and Bangladesh have agreed on sending Rohingya refugees back home in two years.
Bangladesh's Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that Myanmar (also known as Burma) had pledged to stem outflow of refugees to neighboring Bangladesh.
Officials from the two countries held a meeting in Myanmar's capital on the issue, on Monday, however no statement was issued following the closed-door talks.
Bangladesh currently hosts some 680,000 Muslim Rohingyas who have fled violence and oppressive treatment by authorities in Myanmar, namely in State of Rakhine. (end) aib.rk
