Kuwait finances prosthetic transplants in North Iraq

IRBIL, Jan 16 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait has covered expenses of implanting artificial limbs to 66 persons from the northern Iraqi city Mosul.
The State of Kuwait General Consul in Irbil, Dr. Omar Al-Kandari, said in a statement to KUNA on Tuesday that "the initiative" was part of a campaign aimed at providing medical care to displaced Iraqis and those who were wounded or lost limbs during the fighting to liberate the city from the so-called Islamic State (Daesh).
With funding by the Kuwaiti Relief Society, the Kuwaiti General Secretariat in Irbil has overseen prosthetic transplanting operations for 66 individuals from Mosul at a private hospital in Irbil.
The aid for the Iraqi people is part of humanitarian campaigns, launched by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to alleviate the Iraqi people hardships, namely those who have been oppressed or forced to flee their houses by "Daesh." Kuwait has secured alternative limbs for a total of 266 people, including children and women, in northern Iraq. (end) sbr.rk
