KFAED: Iraq reconstruction conf. eases out war victims' woes

KUWAIT, Jan 15 (KUNA) -- Iraq's reconstruction conference due in Kuwait on February 12 would certainly contribute to alleviating the suffering of millions of internally displaced persons and war victims in Iraq, a Kuwaiti aid fund said Monday.
The three-day conference would help in the reconstruction of affected infrastructure utilities in Iraq, Director-General of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) Abdelwahab Al-Bader said in a press statement.
The fund is pursing arrangements for the gathering with a view to mustering much support for the rebuilding of retaken and liberated Iraqi cities, he added.
Kuwait and Iraq attach much significance to the conference which will be held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, he said.
The fact that Kuwait plays host to his conference and other similar regional gatherings is an inequivalent paradigm of His Highness the Amir's distinctive humanitarian role and eagerness to ease out humanitarian woes, create better living conditions and fight poverty, Al-Badr added.
Many regional and international organizations and agencies, mainly the United Nations (UN), together with civil society organizations, would partake in the humanitarian event, the KFAED chief pointed out. (end) skm.ht.mt
