Turkish Army launches heavy strikes on Syrian-Kurdish locations in Aleppo

ISTANBUL, Jan 14 (KUNA) -- The Turkish forces targeted early Sunday locations of the Democratic Union Party or PYD, and Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), in Afrin area, located in the countryside of Aleppo Governorate.
The Turkish units, adjacent to the Syrian boarders in Hatay Governorate southern Turkey, intensified its campaign of heavy artillery shelling in Afrin, Anadoulu News Agency reported.
The strikes started since Saturday noon, as the bombing sounds were heard from the Turkish region adjacent to the Syrian boarders, it added.
"We will destroy the western wing of the belt through Idlib operation" Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a speech he gave in the Justice and Development Party (AK) conference held in Elazig province commenting on the belt created by PYD in norther Syria.
"In case the terrorists will not surrender, we will destroy them", he added. (end) ta.naa.lb
