KUWAIT, Jan 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Youth Khaled Al-Roudhan opened Saturday His Highness the Amir 7th International Shooting Grand Prix, where shooters from 39 countries would compete until next Thursday.
Al-Roudhan said he was honored to represent His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in opening the championship which was held at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Range, and featured world's best shooters.
The tournament has a special taste, Al-Roudhan told reporters after the opening ceremony, because it was held after international suspension of Kuwait shooters was lifted by the court of sport arbitration (CAS) ruling.
Duaij Al-Otaibi, President of Kuwait and Arab Shooting federations, told the opening ceremony in a speech that His Highness the Amir's support of the sport of shooting in Kuwait was huge, citing the building of the shooting range.
He said the shooters were looking forward to compete in the tournament, held under His Highness the Amir's patronage. (end)
