EU to assess implications of Trumpآ’s statement on Iran nuclear deal

BRUSSELS, Jan 13 (KUNA) -- EU High Representative Federica Mogherini will coordinate with France, Germany, the UK and other EU Member States to jointly assess the latest statement made by US President Donald Trump on Iran nuclear deal and its implications.
Her spokesperson Catherine Ray in a statement Friday night said the EU has taken note of Trump's statement concerning the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) yesterday.
"We remain committed to the continued full and effective implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action," she added.
Trump said Friday that he is extending sanctions relief for Iran one last time so Europe and the US can correct the nuclear deal's "terrible flaws". The waiver he will sign suspends US sanctions on Iran for another 120 days.
Mogherini held a joint meeting together with the foreign ministers of France, Germany and the UK with the Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif in Brussels on Thursday on the JCPOA.
"The deal is working and delivering on its main goals keeping the Iranian nuclear programme in check," Mogherini told reporters after the meeting.
"The unity of the international community is essential to preserve the deal that is working and is making the world safer," she stressed. (end) nk.hb
