KUWAIT, Jan 13 (KUNA) -- 1964 -- The Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah takes part in the first Arab League Summit, which was held in Cairo from January 13 to 17.
1965 -- Khaitan Sports Club was established.
1969 -- Venezuela's first ambassador presented his credentials to Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
1991 -- The occupying Iraqi forces shot to death Asrar Al-Qabandi, 31, and dumped her body near her house. The Kuwaiti martyr was very active in resisting the occupiers.
1995 -- The State of Kuwait and the Republic of Turkmenistan sign a protocol in Moscow to establish diplomatic relations.
2002 -- Kuwait Oil Company announces discovery of a new type of crude oil in the Manageesh Field.
2004 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah appoints Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as Deputy Chief of the Kuwait National Guard with ministerial status.
2008 -- National Assembly Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi inaugurates the sixth general assembly of the Arab Scout Parliamentary Union.
2011 -- A joint study by Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research and Kuwait National Petroleum Company conclude that the proposed fourth refinery project will be beneficial in the extraction and processing of heavy crude oil.
2013 -- The world in dialogue, a cultural campaign launched by Al-Najat charitable society, was chosen as one of the best campaigns in 2013 by BMW in cooperation with the UN. (end) hb
