KUWAIT, Dec 15 (KUNA) -- The forthcoming 24th edition of Awqaf Forum will reaffirm the significance of charity work for realizing political stability and easing severity of problems in the society, said Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Fahd Mohammad Mohsen Al-Afasi.
The forum, to be organized by Kuwait Awqaf Public Foundation (KAPF), December 18-19, will accentuate the role of Kuwait and Kuwaiti people and foundations in the field, and review the benefits of charity activities on the country, Al-Afasi said in a press release on Friday.
The event, themed "charity work growth of international relations," will be attended by official and private agencies and scholars and academics from several Arab, Muslim and foreign countries.
KAPF organizes the annual event as part of its message, namely promoting, and managing Waqf activities, through institutional work as the relevant tool of the Kuwaiti society, and a model example on the local and international scenes, the minister stressed.
The Foundation offers huge amounts of money every year to support development projects and Islamic and training centers in the poor societies around the globe.
The forum's two-day discussions will also review international experiences of charity work, including Kuwait's. (end)
