Profiles of members of new Kuwaiti Cabinet

KUWAIT, Dec 11 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah has formed the 35th Kuwaiti government since 1962. It has been the seventh since he occupied the premiership post in December 2011.
The following are profiles of the newly-formed cabinet including the premier.


Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak --

Prime Minister Born in 1942, Sheikh Jaber has occupied a number of positions since 1968, serving as supervisor of administrative and financial affairs at the Amiri Diwan, director of a State department and assistant undersecretary for financial and administrative affairs.
On March 19, 1979, he was appointed Hawally Governor. Later, he was named Al-Ahmadi Governor, before serving as Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of Information as well as advisor at His Highness the Amir's Bureau.
On February 9, 2006, Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak was named First Deputy Premier, Minister of Interior and Defense. He retained the same posts in two cabinets, formed on July 11, 2006, and March 25, 2007.
Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak, in a cabinet reshuffle on October 28, 2007, became the First Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense. He served in the same positions in the subsequent governments formed in May 2008, January 2009, May 2009 and May 2011.
In November 2011, Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak was selected to serve as Premier. He was re-appointed to the premiership post in February 2012, July 2012, December 2012, July 2013, January 2014, and November 2017.


Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah --

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.
Born on April 27, 1948, Sheikh Nasser is the eldest son of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
He held several positions including advisor to His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Prime Minister on December 7, 1999. He was also Minister of the Amiri Diwan Affairs in accordance to a decree issued on February 11, 2006.
Sheikh Nasser is known for his business mindset which helped him establish several companies and he is also known for his passion for culture and history. He established Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah and is an honorary member of the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
He is a founding member of the society for the protection of public wealth.

Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah --

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Born in 1953. He joined the Foreign Ministry in 1978 as a diplomatic attache, serving in the Arab affairs department 1978-1983 and with the permanent Kuwaiti mission at the (UN) 1983-1989.
He worked as the deputy director of the Arab homeland department at the Foreign Ministry 1989-1992, in addition to several other senior posts till assuming the Foreign Minister's post in 2011. He retained the position years later.

Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah --

Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister He was named chief of staff on March 4, 2012, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense in July 2013 and remained in the same service as of January 2014. On November 30, he was named Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

Anas Khaled Al-Saleh --

Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Born in 1972, Al-Saleh had served in key positions in several private business companies before he was named in 2012 as Minister of Commerce and Industry. He retained the post in the cabinets of December 2012 and July 2013. He was chosen to serve as the Deputy Premier and Finance Minister in January 2014 and acting oil minister in November 2015.
He was re-assigned as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance in December 2016.

Adel Musaed Al-Kharafi --

Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Born in 1959, Al-Kharafi attained a BA in civil engineering from the Arab academy for science and technology. He held top positions at petroleum and aluminum companies. He was a member of the Municipal Council in 2005 and also a member of the National Assembly in 2013 and 2016. Al-Kharafi held the position of parliament secretary in 2015.

Dr. Bassel Humoud Hamad Al-Sabah --

Minister of Health Dr. Al-Sabah was born in 1974 and graduated from Kuwait University's (KU) Faculty of Medicine in 1999. He attained his PhD in otolaryngology from the Canadian medical board in 2006. He is head of Otolaryngology Department Zain Hospital since 2007.

Khaled Nasser Al-Roudhan --

Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Al-Roudhan was born on May 26, 1978. He has a BA in business management from KU and work in the private sector. He served as Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Youth Affairs from November 2016 until October 2017.

Jinan Mohsin Ramadan --

Minister of State for Housing Affairs and Minister of State for Services' Affairs She attained a BA and MA in engineering from Kuwait University while she got her PhD from Ain Shams University in Cairo.
Ramadan was a member of the Municipal Council from 2009 until 2013.
She worked as an advisor at the National Assembly from 2014 until 2016 and has been a member of the Central Agency for Public Tenders since 2016.
Ramadan was a member of Al-Harir city's agency and also member of the cabinet's supreme planning committee. She was also a member of the Public Authority for Housing Welfare's (PAHW) strategic housing committee from 2016 until 2017.

Hussam Abdullah Al-Roumi --

Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Born in 1959, Al-Roumi had a BA in computer engineering from University of the Pacific in California 1983.
He was head of programing at Kuwait Airways from 1983 until 1989 and also was chief of IT at Public Authority for the Council of Ministers from 1989-1990.

Bakheet Shibeeb Al-Rasheedi --

Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water Al-Rasheedi was born in 1957 and attained his BA in chemical engineering from Kuwait University (KU) in 1982.
He was chairman of the board of Kuwait Petroleum International (Q8) and CEO of KPC Holdings Aruba, a Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) company.
He was chairman of the board for the Gulf refining federation since 2016. He was a member of the board of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) 2011-2012.

Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf --

Minister of Finance He attained his PhD in accounting from the UK in 2002. Al-Hajraf was Vice President of the Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) and has been a member of the Supreme Petroleum Council since 2010.
Al-Hajraf was Minister of Education and Higher Education in February 2012 and was appointed in July 2012 as Minister of Finance, Minister of Education, and Acting Minister of Higher Education.
He was re-assigned as Minister of Education and Higher Education in December 2012 as well as in the 32nd incarnation of cabinet in December 2016.

Mohammad Nasser Al-Jabri --

Minister of Information Al-Jabri was born in 1974 and has an MA in political science. He worked at Kuwait Airways and was member of the board at Khaitan cooperative society. He was a member of parliament in 2012, 2013, and 2016. Al-Jabri was minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and also was Minister of State for Municipal Affairs.

Dr. Hamid Mohammad Al-Azmi --

Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Al-Azmi was born on May 17, 1969 and is a undersecretary at the Ministry of Higher Education as well a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering in Kuwait University (KU) He has a BA in electrical engineering from Washington University in Saint Louis and attained both his MA and PhD in the same field from the same university in 1994.
Al-Azmi has a PhD in computer engineering from the University of Washington in 2000.

Fahad Mohamad Al-Afasi --

Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Born in 1971, Al-Afasi attained his BA and MA in law while studying in Egypt and Lebanon.
He has been head of the technical department for fatwa and legislation since 2015 and also a member of the cabinet's fatwa and legislations department since 1995.

Hind Sabeeh Barrak Al-Sabeeh --

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, as well as Minister of State for Economic Affairs She began climbing the echelon in 2007 as the assistance undersecretary at the civil service commission.
She was chosen as minister of social affairs and labor in January 2014. In December of 2016, Al-Sabeeh was chosen as Social Affairs and Labor Minister and Minister of State for Economic Affairs. (end) gta
