NEW DELHI, Dec 7 (KUNA) -- Death toll from the Cyclone Ockhi which hit hard the southern Indian states few days back rose to 47 as three more bodies were recovered today as 96 fishermen are still missing.
Quoting government sources privy to state control room monitoring the rescue operations in Kerala, the Press Trust of India said that the death toll from the Cyclone Ockhi rose in Kerala to 36 while the neighboring Tamil Nadu had lost 11 lives to the deadly cyclone.
Indian military sources said that an aircraft named AN 32 of the air force had sighted a fishing boat with about 15 fishermen in it while flying between Kozhikode-Kochi coasts.
The authorities dispatched an aircraft and ship to the region to track down the missing fishermen.
However, the security authorities are still busy searching for 96 missed amid reports of protests from the fishermen families over callous government attitude in issuing the cyclone alerts. The Eastern and Southern coasts of India are witnessing seasonal storms which causes huge loss between April and December. (end) atk.ibi
