23 Palestinians injured in clashes with Israeli forces

RAMALLAH, Dec 7 (KUNA) -- At least 23 people were wounded on Thursday in clashes with Israeli security forces in several Palestinian areas, according to medics.
The clashes took place when thousands of Palestinians staged a protest against Wednesday's US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to move US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The Palestinian of Health said in a press release that its medical teams had treated 23 Palestinians who were injured in clashes with Israeli security forces.
A general strike has been staged in most occupied Palestinian territories, including West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem, in protest against the US President's decision.
Earlier on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump recognized in a much-anticipated announcement Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Trump also announced that he was directing the State Department to begin preparations to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The Palestinian forces called for three days of rage to protest the US move on Jerusalem, which Israel occupied in the June 1967 war.
The US president's decision has sparked wide-scale condemnation and rejection at Arab, Islamic and international levels. (end) nq.mt
