KUWAIT, Dec 7 (KUNA) -- The Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) has rejected the US President Donald Trump's decision to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The step undermines the Arab and international efforts seeking to find a just settlement to the Palestinian cause - based on the two-state solution - and to embark on a peace process that could maintain security and stability in the region, said a statement issued by FANA President and KUNA Board Chairman and Director General Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah Thursday.
The decision has terminated the decades-long US commitment not to recognize Israel's annexation of occupied Jerusalem, and forms a sudden step at the expense of the US relations with the Arab and Muslim countries.
Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij urged the US to refrain from taking any measures to alter Jerusalem's legal and political status capsulated in relevant UN and UN Security Council resolutions on the occupied city.
He also called for maintaining that status, as tampering with the "Palestinian identity of Jerusalem and wasting the rights of the Palestinian people, as well as of all Muslims and Christians, will lead to further chaos and instability, and encourage extremism, violence and terrorism in the region and beyond." The FANA and KUNA Chief appealed to the world's media organizations and agencies to reject the decision which could result in "more boiling" leading to a state of instability and extremism, not only in the region but around the globe as well.
