BRUSSELS, Dec 4 (KUNA) -- EU High Representative Federica Mogherini expressed her happiness Monday over the holding of the GCC summit in Kuwait.
"I am very pleased to know that the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) Summit is happening after having pushed for a resumption of that for quite some months now," she told a press conference after holding talks with Canadian foreign minister in Brussels this evening.
"To see our friends in the GCC countries coming together again is for us a very positive sign and we would encourage every time the search for cooperative approaches and dialogue," she added.
The GCC Foreign Ministers held a meeting in Kuwait earlier today to prepare for the GCC's 38th Summit, due on December 5-6.
The foreign ministers underlined importance of maintaining the bloc's unity and resolve.
Kuwait's First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said the meeting should maintain the GCC's cooperation and join action for the benefit of its peoples and to face challenges that threaten the region's security and stability.
GCC Secretary General Abdullatif Al-Zayani said that strategic ties, linking the six-nation bloc, must continue to address current and future challenges. (end)
