Russia, Spain hail His Highness Amir of Kuwait's efforts to mediate Gulf feud

By Nasser Al-Otaibi KUWAIT, Dec 3 (KUNA) -- The ambassadors of Russia and Spain to Kuwait have praised Kuwait's efforts, led by His Highnes the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to mediate the Gulf and maintain the Gulf Cooperation Council bloc's system.
Speaking to KUNA, The ambassadors of Russia Alexey Solomatin and Spain's Carlos Saenz de Tejada, on the fringes of the UAE embassy in Kuwait National Day celebrations, said they hoped the Gulf Summit, due to be held in Kuwait on Tuesday, would lead to results that aid resolving the Gulf dispute.
"We hope that Gulf Cooperation Council member nations resolve all outstanding issues between them... and we in Russia encourage Kuwaiti efforts aimed at unting the Gulf, and maintaining this bloc," Ambassador Solomatin said.
Solomatin said that Russia is closely watching over developments in the region, particularly in the Gulf, and that Moscow is keen on developing and boosting its relations with all Arab countries, particularly those in the Gulf.
"We hope that the 38th GCC Summit would be the last stop for the Gulf dispute," as he expressed his confidence in Kuwaiti-led efforts to end the dispute.
For his part, Spain's Ambassador de Tejada praised His Highness the Amir's efforts to bridge the gap between Gulf countries, saying he hoped GCC countries would be able to overcome their difference at this "distinguished session." (end) nmo.sd
