Somalia lauds Kuwait's initiative to boost education

PARIS, Nov 4 (KUNA) -- Somalia praised Saturday Kuwait's initiative to host a donors' conference in the nation to boost education.
Education is one of the main pillars of boosting stability and sustainable development, Secretary General of Somalia National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science Esam Al-Jama said in his speech at UNESCO's 39th Session of the General Conference.
Al-Jama expressed his country's sincere gratitude and appreciation to the leadership, government, and people of Kuwait, especially His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The UN's naming of the Amir of Kuwait as "Humanitarian Leader" is a global confession of his benevolent deeds worldwide, he said, pointing out the Kuwaiti people's philanthropic actions in his country and around the world.
Al-Jama urged UNESCO, all member-states, and international donor agencies to participate effectively in the donors' conference to boost education in Somalia.
Kuwait's Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Mohammad Al-Fares announced his country's plans to host a donor conference in Somalia during his speech before UNESCO's 39th session of General Conference on Friday.
Kuwait is going to host a donor conference to support education in Somalia, as it sees that education plays a key role in the renaissance of peoples and the achievement of sustainable development goals, as well as the expansion of community partnerships, said Al-Fares. (end) tma.ma
