WASHINGTON, Nov 3 (KUNA) -- US forces conducted two deadly airstrikes against extremist militants in northeastern Somalia on Friday, the US Africa Command confirmed.
US forces coordinated with Somalia's government to launch an attack against so-called Islamic State (IS) fighters just after midnight and against late Friday morning.
US Africa Command (AFRICOM) said it was still assessing the results of the strikes but confirmed at least several terrorists were killed.
"US forces will continue to use all authorized and appropriate measures to protect Americans and to disable terrorist threats," According to a statement from AFRICOM. This includes partnering with African Union and Somali National Security Forces in targeting terrorists, training camps and safe havens throughout Somalia, the region and the entire world. (end)
