CAIRO, Nov 1 (KUNA) -- The Arab League commended Wednesday the Kuwaiti announcement of a humanitarian award for Arab youth as part of the celebration of Kuwait as the capital of Arab youth 2017.
This praise came during a meeting among Arab League Assistant Secretary for Social Affairs Ambassador Baderaddin Alali, dDirector of Kuwait's Public Authority for Youth (PAY) Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, and Secretary of Arab Media Forum Madhi Al-Khamees.
Alali said the new initiative by Kuwait reflected its stature as a UN humanitarian center.
It also displayed the keenness of the UN global humanitarian leader His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on humanitarian issues, said the Arab League official.
On his part, PAY's Al-Mutairi said that promoting the humanitarian award for Arab youth through the league would be a great exposure for the event.
The award needs to attract Arab youth who represent the future of the region, said Al-Mutairi.
Kuwait is the Arab youth capital of 2017; therefore, it is the duty of the Gulf country to support the youth who represent the majority of the region's populace, he said.
In a similar statement, Al-Khamees hoped that the award would encourage Arab youth to pursue more endeavors with the humanitarian domain.
Submissions for the Arab youth award will concluded on December 31, 2017. A sum KD 22,000 (around USD 77,000) will be rewarded to winners in several categories of the event. (end) ms.gta
