PLO urges Palestinian gov't to run Gaza affairs

RAMALLAH, Sept 24 (KUNA) -- The Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) has asked the national unity government to assume full control and responsibility in Gaza Strip from Hamas movement soon.
In a press statement following a meeting in Ramallah Sunday under the chairmanship of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, the committee welcomed Hamas' decision to dissolve its administrative committee in Gaza and to allow the unity government to run the strip affairs.
It also expressed appreciation of the Egyptian efforts to end the Palestinian division and achieve national unity.
The committee also emphasized the Palestinian government's keenness on materializing the UNSC resolutions related to the Palestinian rights and warned the Israeli government against the continuation of its illegal settlement policy and encroachments against Palestinian territories and people.
