Kuwait-funded Sadd Al-Qaismani inaugurated in Lebanon
FALUGA, Lebanon, June 11 (KUNA) -- On behalf of Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil inaugurated on Sunday Sadd (Dam) Al-Qaismani project in Faluqa town, funded by Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED).
The ceremony was attended Lebanese ministers and senior officials, including KFAED Director General Abdulwahab Al-Bader, Kuwait Acting Charge d'Affaires Mohammad Al-Wugayyan, and KFAED Operation Director Marwan Al-Ghanim.
The total coast of the project was USD 23 million.
In a speech, Bassil expressed appreciation to KFAED for their contribution to this vital project in Al-Muten Al-Ala area.
The minister added that Lebanon and the Lebanese people continue to receive support from the State of Kuwait, stressing on the importance of this project and similar projects that secures Lebanon's water resource.
For his part, Al-Bader expressed keenness to continue supporting Lebanese government's efforts and its developmental projects, including vital projects like the one in hand.
Al-Bader noted that Lebanon was one of the first countries that benefited from KFAED through various developmental projects, adding that today's project help serve Lebanese citizens and their water needs in Al-Muten Al-Ala.
The fund covered 81 percent of the total coast of the project, through a loan agreement signed in March 2010, totaling KD 5.5 million, Al-Bader added. (end) ff.mb
