AMMAN, May 14 (KUNA) -- The Undersecretary of Kuwait's Ministry of State for Youth Affairs Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah has been honored with the Al Haitham Arab Media Award of the United Arab Media Council (UAMC) 2017, for supporting causes of the Arab youth.
The decision of the award's higher committee in its current session has come in recognition of Sheikha Al-Zain's efforts and continuous support to the Arab youth, offering them opportunities, through investing their energies in positive development matters that serve the society, UAMC's Secretary General Haitham Al-Amin told a news conference in Amman Sunday.
He added that the winner Kuwaiti dignitary has been devoting her efforts to serving youth, granting them the chance to be active in their societies.
Meanwhile, Al-Amin congratulated Kuwait on being elected "Capital of Arab Youth 2017," wishing the country more progress and prosperity.
Since the prize was launched in 2012, it has been awarded to several Arab leading dignitaries, including Bahrin's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Governor of the Mecca Province Prince Khalid Al-Faisal and Ruler of Sharjah Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi.
The UAMC, an independent Arab media body, was established in Bahrain in 2012 and has three main offices in Manama, UAE and Jordan.
The council, whose executive bureau is in Jordan, aims to develop a unified Arab media to support the Arab and Muslim causes, as well as enhancing ties among the media figures and bodies in the Arab World. (end) mjb.msa
