Iraqi forces recaptures two districts in West Mosul

IRBIL, May 12 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi forces have recaptured two districts in western Mosul from the grip of the so-called Islamic State (IS) as part of the third phase of the ongoing military operations to liberate the city from the terrorist group.
Iraqi federal police units, including the elite Rapid Response division, 34th Armored Brigade of the 9th Armored Division, and the 73rd Brigade of the 15th infantry division liberated Al-Haramat Al-Thaniya district, Lieut. Gen. Abdulamir Yarallah, Commander of "We are coming Nineveh" operations, said in a press statement.
Anti-terrorism forces were also able to recapture Al-Eslah Al-Zeraai Al-Aoula district on Mosul's right coast, Yarallah added.
Meanwhile, Iraqi Federal Police chief General Raed Shaker Jawdat said, in a statement, that the federal police had killed two key IS leaders in Mosul; Abu Ali Al-Basrawi, Abu Yousef Al-Masry and his assistant Radwan Al-Muslawi. (end) sbr.maa.ma
