KUWAIT, May 10 (KUNA) -- The National Assembly commenced the grilling session of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Wednesday after clearing Abdullah Al-Salem Hall.
The grilling motion is presented by MPs Walid Al-Tabtabaei, Mohammad Al-Mutair, and Shuaib Al-Mowaizri.
Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim ordered the clearing by a request from Minister of Justice and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Faleh Al-Azab.
Regarding the right to turn the interpellation into a secret session, minister Al-Azab noted that article 94 of Kuwait's constitution states that "Sittings of the National Assembly shall be public, though they may be held in secret upon the request of the government, the National Assembly's Speaker, the parliment, or ten of its members. The debate on such request shall be held in secret." He added that the grilling, involving issues related to the country's security, could not be discussed in public. These topics include accusations on illegal weapon agreements, he added.
The grilling motion also involves accusations of violating the law, misuse of authority in citizenship withdrawal, corruption, hiring unqualified people in senior positions, and financial violations. (end) hy.ns.ag
