Japan condemns terrorist attacks on Egypt's churches

TOKYO, April 10 (KUNA) -- Japan on Monday strongly condemned the terrorist attacks in Churches in Egypt, which caused heavy casualties on Sunday, saying terrorism cannot be justified for any reason.
"Japan expresses its sincere condolences to their families and extends its heartfelt sympathy to those who were injured," Japanese Foreign Ministry Press Secretary Norio Maruyama said in a statement.
"Japan firmly condemns such act of terrorism. Japan expresses its strong solidarity with the government of Egypt and its people," said Maruyama.
According to media reports, the terrorist attacks targeted churches in the Egyptian towns of Tanta and Alexandria, killing at least 49 people and left 112 injured. Both attacks were claimed by the so-called Islamic State (IS).(end) mk.tg
