KUWAIT, Feb 23 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's diplomatic missions on Thursday continued commemorating the country's 56th National Day, the 26th liberation day and the 11th anniversary of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's assumption of office.
In London, Ambassador Khaled Al-Dowaisan hosted last night a reception, which gathered nearly 3,200 British politicians, Gulf War veterans, lawmakers and economic and public figures, as well as diplomats from various friendly countries.
Ambassador Al-Dowaisan extended his sincere felicitations to His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, as well as the government and people of Kuwait.
In statements to KUNA on the sidelines of the celebration, he commended the historical ties between Kuwait and the United Kingdom in various fields, recalling the UK supportive stances on Kuwait's fair issues over long decades.
"The large number of celebrities at attendance show the strength of state-to-state and the people-to-people relations between the two countries," he added.
UK former foreign minister Jack Straw expressed his best wishes for His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Prime Minister, as well as the Kuwaiti people on this occasion.
Similarly, Maj.-Gen. Arthur G. Denaro, a former British Army officer, expressed joy for sharing the Kuwaiti people the commemoration of these dear occasions.
Denaro, who led the Queen's Royal Irish Hussars during the Gulf War (August 1990 - February 1991), said several members of his regiment are attending the celebration.
He lauded as historical and deep-rooted the bilateral ties and voiced joy for the UN honoring of His Highness the Amir as Humanitarian Leader.
In Istanbul, Consul General Mohammad Fahad Al-Mohammad welcomed to a reception a large number of Turkish government officials, business leaders and public figures as well as accredited foreign diplomats.
He expressed his best wishes for His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Prime Minister, as well as the Kuwaiti people on this occasion.
Al-Mohammad commended the special relationship between Kuwait and Turkey, lauding as honorable the supportive stance of Turkey during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and the Turkish role in Kuwait liberation war.
He spoke highly of Turkey's efforts to solve the Syrian crisis and accommodate huge numbers of Syrian refugees.
In this connection, Al-Mohammad took pride in the fact that Kuwait, at the behest of His Highness the Amir, has become the world's largest donor of humanitarian aid in relation to its GDP.
Meanwhile, the Turkish well-wishers, foremost among who are Governor of Istanbul Vasip Sahin, expressed their sincere felicitations to His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Prime Minister, as well as the Kuwaiti people on this occasion.
In Accra, capital city of Ghana, Ambassador Mohammad Hussein Al-Failakawi hosted last night a reception at Kempinski Hotel where a large number of Ghanaian ministers, business leaders and public figures as well as accredited foreign diplomats gathered.
He reviewed, in a speech to the function, the progress of the Kuwaiti-Ghanaian ties under the leadership of His Highness the Amir and Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo.
Ghanaian Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection Otiko Afisah Djaba said she was happy for sharing with the Kuwaiti people the joy of this occasion.
She lauded the remarkable progress and prosperity achieved by Kuwait under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir.
He expressed hope for cementing the friendly ties between the two countries in all domains. In Buenos Aires, Ambassador to Argentina Salah Al-Mutairi hosted a reception at Alvear Art Hotel where large number of ministers, Gulf War veterans, business leaders and public figures as well as accredited foreign diplomats gathered.
Al-Mutairi welcomed the guests and expressed Kuwait's keenness on strengthening the friendly ties with Argentina.
He expressed sincere felicitations to His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Prime Minister, as well as the Kuwaiti people on this occasion.
In Milan, the General Consulate organized a grand ceremony at Hotel Principe di Savoia tonight, which gathered a large number of Italian senior government and provincial officials, business leaders and public figures as well as diplomats based in northern Italy.
Consul General Abulnasser Bukhadour welcomed the well-wishers, foremost among who were Milan police chief Antonio de Lesu, minister of scientific research in Lombardy regional government Luca Del Gobbo, deputy representative of Milan government Darco Pellos and La Verdi, in charge of tourism in Mina municipality.
Bukhadour expressed sincere felicitations to His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Prime Minister, as well as the Kuwaiti people on the national days.
He voiced desire to further cement the bilateral ties.
In Washington, Ambassador to the United States Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah hosted last night a reception for a large number of US senior officials, congressmen, academics, business leaders and public figures as well as diplomats.
Among the chief guests were US Secretary of Treasury Steven Mnuchin and Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Thomas A. Shannon Jr.
