KUWAIT, Jan 30 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah Monday affirmed resolve to implement visionary strategy architected by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to transform Kuwait into a lucrative business and cultural hub.
Serious steps were taken over the past years "to translate His Highness the Amir outlook for activating development, boosting the economy, diversifying productivity, pressing ahead with economic and financial reforms through mega projects and leading role by the private sector," His Highness the Prime Minister said.
His Highness the Premier was speaking after a festival, "New Kuwait," held at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center for examining the national development strategy (till 2035), hammered out on the basis of His Highness the Amir's guidelines.
His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak affirmed necessary role of the youth for implementing "the new Kuwait outlook for achieving honorable living and bright future for the youngsters and the next generations," hoping that they would lead process of building the aspired modern State.
The festival included several activities and lectures. One presentation was made by the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah who briefed attendees about foundations of the development plan.
His presentation was followed with dialogue involving Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Hind Al-Sebeeh, Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Roudhan, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri.
A second session focused on themes such as building a sustainable living environment and advanced infrastructure; with presentation by Minister of Public Works Abdulrahman Al-Mutawaa, Minister of Housing and Minister of State for Utilities Yasser Abul and Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water Essam Al-Marzouq.
Minister of Health Jamal Al-Harbi addressed the event in a taped statement, shedding light on bases of health care. Minister Al-Sebeeh and Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Mohammad Al-Fares talked about the making of a creative manpower.
For his part, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad al-Sabah, lectured about Kuwait's international and historic status.
In conclusion, a documentary was screened on projects envisaged as part of the long term strategy ending by 2035. (end) rk
