GAZA, Jan 10 (KUNA) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday the US Administration of President Barack Obama contributed to wording of UN resolution 2334, which condemned Jewish settlements.
Israel knows for sure that the Obama administration participated in wording of resolution, which considered the settlements on occupied Palestinian territories illegal, Netanyahu said during a meeting with a group from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
He accused this administration of exercising pressure to pass the resolution at the UN Security Council.
The resolution was passed in a 14-0 vote last month. The US abstained.
It condemns as a "flagrant violation" Israel's settlement construction on occupied Palestinian land.
The resolution stated that there is "no legal validity" for Israeli settlements built on post-1967 occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem. (end)
