RIYADH, Dec 19 (KUNA) -- The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) welcomed Monday the outcome of a quartet committee over peace in Yemen.
The GCC supports efforts by the committee members to achieve peace in Yemen, who held a meeting to explore ways of resuming negotiations among conflicting parties in Yemen in line with GCC initiative and its implementation mechanism, outcome of national dialogue and UN resolution 2216, Secretary General Abdullatif Al-Zayani said in a statement.
He said the GCC hoped humanitarian aid would reach the needy people in Yemen to alleviate their suffering.
The committee meeting was attended by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the US, Britain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in addition to Oman's foreign minister and UN envoy to Yemen. (end)
