Kuwait keen on implementing UN Sustainable Development Goals - official

By Nawaf Al-Deqbasi DOHA, Dec 14 (KUNA) -- General Secretary of the Supreme Planning and Development Council of Kuwait Dr. Khaled Al-Mahdi stressed his country's keenness on implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), or the 2030 Agenda, adopted by the UN in September 2015.
Dr. Mahdi made his remarks to KUNA Wednesday on the sidelines of the 29th Ministerial Council of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) scheduled today.
He said that the committee will focus on the implementation of the sustainable development plan for 2030 and its 17 goals, as well as the roadmap at the national level.
He pointed out that Kuwait has achieved vital parts of the UN development plan.
"We share members of (ESCWA) in the implementation of the sustainable development plan from a regional perspective, and benefit from the experiences of others", Dr. Mahdi added.
ESCWA was established on August 9, 1973. Its purpose IS to stimulate economic activity in member countries and strengthen cooperation between them to promote development. (end) nnd.haq
