Information Minister Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah in Kuwait's 41st International Book Fair
KUWAIT, Nov 16 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's 41st International Book Fair will be instrumental in the development of culture and education in the Arab world, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said on Wednesday.
Sheikh Salman made the remark in a speech he delivered to open Kuwait's 41st International Book Fair, which goes on until November 26th with participation of 565 publishers representing 30 Arab and foreign nations.
"Kuwait recently celebrated the opening of the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, which is a cultural monument that will link the country with vast civilizations and cultures all across the globe," the Minister of Information noted.
On the book fair, he said that it is a "cultural milestone", since it features a slew of activities and events that help promote cultural knowledge and interaction.
Meanwhile, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information Tarek Al-Merzem said that Kuwait is proud to hold this exhibition, which includes various activities and lectures. He also noted that Kuwait has hosted this book fair for 41 consecutive years, which underscores its support of literature.
Furthermore, Al-Merzem added that the turnout for the event has "exceeded expectations", thanking the organizers for their impeccable efforts to put together this book fair.
Similarly, Secretary-General of the National Council of Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) Ali Al-Yoha noted that the addition of social media has resulted in increased efficiency when it comes to services.
He also highlighted the presence of major government bodies and institutions, which has augmented the enormity of the event. (end)
