Three ministers resign ahead of parliamentary polls

KUWAIT, Oct 17 (KUNA) -- The Cabinet has accepted the resignations of three ministers, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah announced on Monday.
In a statement to KUNA, Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah said that Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Ali Al-Omair, Minister of Communications and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Essa Al-Kandari and Minister of Justice, Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Yaqoub Al-Sanea have tendered their resignations.
The three ministers have relinquished their posts as they plan to contest parliamentary elections on November 26th, Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah added.
Moreover, the Cabinet has named Minister of Electricity and Water Ahmad Al-Jassar as Minister of Public Works, Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Minister of State for Housing Affairs Yasser Abul as Minister of Communications, while the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs has been appointed Minister of Justice and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs and the Minister of Commerce and Industry now doubles as Minister of State for Municipal Affairs as well.
An Amiri decree dissolved Parliament on Sunday, paving the way for early elections set for November 26th. (end) asa.nam
