KUWAIT, Sept 8 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP) has received proposals from prequalified companies for Kabd Municipal Solid Waste Project.
KAPP said in a statement publicized on Thursday that all proposals from prequalified companies for Kabd Municipal Solid Waste (Kabd MSW) were received from three consortia: 1, Constructions Industrielles de La Méditerranée (CNIM), Gulf Investment Corporation (GIC), Al Mulla Group; 2, EVN Umwelt holding und Betriebs GmbH, International Financial Advisors (IFA), KCC Engineering & Contracting Co. (KCCEC), Steinmuller Babcock Environment GmbH (SBE); 3, Suez Environment SAS, Itochu Corporation, Kharafi National KSC.
The project involves design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, operation, maintenance and financing of waste to energy facility in Kabd area The proposed facility, located approximately 35 km from Kuwait City will occupy an area of 500,000 square meters.
The objectives of the Project will primarily divert waste from landfill, generate renewable energy; and minimize water usage (due to high cost of water production in Kuwait).
The Kabd MSW project is considered a principal infrastructure project that contributes to the improvement of municipal solid waste treatment system in the State of Kuwait.
KAPP also clarified that the project's investment period will be 25 years post construction as the specific approach of the project is based on using waste to energy technology to generate electricity. (end) fnk.rk
