Out-door Eid prayers cancelled for "security grounds"

KUWAIT, June 30 (KUNA) -- Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Yaaqoub Al-Sane' announced late Thursday that the prayers of Eid Al-Fitr will not be held at open areas this year due to security considerations.
"In response to a request from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs made this decision out of keenness on the safety of worshipers," the minister said during an inspection tour of religious centers belonging to his ministry.
"Instead, the Eid prayers will he observed at mosques," he affirmed, commending the preparations being made by the various departments of Al-Awqaf Ministry and the Ministry of Interior to ensure the convenience of worshippers particularly at the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan.
