KUWAIT, June 19 (KUNA) -- UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad on Sunday met with the delegation of Ansarullah and the General People's Congress, part of ongoing peace talks that began in Kuwait on April 21.
The parties discussed a host of political, humanitarian and economic issues.
Ould Chiekh Ahmad met yesterday with the delegation of the Yemeni government and discussed practical ideas and proposals on the major issues of the coming period and the mechanisms necessary to bridge differences over the political, humanitarian, and economic aspects of the period.
They focused on withdrawals, weapons hand-over and restoring state institutions, in a way that guarantees concluding a comprehensive and peaceful solution to the Yemeni crisis in line with the acknowledged international references, especially the UN Security Council resolution 2216, the GCC Initiative, its Implementation Mechanism and the outcome of Yemen's National Dialogue.
