Turkey shells IS positions inside Syria

ISTANBUL, April 2 (KUNA) -- Turkish armed forces on Saturday launched artillery strikes on positions of the so-called Islamic State (IS) group in Syria, an army statement said.
Turkish artillery fired shells from positions on the Turkish-Syrian border region of Kilis against IS targets in the settlements of Jaka, Dabij, and Merghel, which are in the vicinity of the town of Azaz in northern Syria, said the statement.
It added that security has been heightened all along the border between Kilis and the Syrian city of Aleppo in anticipation of any IS fighters infiltrating the border in the direction of Turkish territories. (end) ta.ajs
