Security operations claim 27 lives across Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- At least five Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and 22 rebels were killed during clearance security operations in different provinces across Afghanistan, Pakistan Ministry of Defense (MoD) said on Friday.
A statement from MoD added that the joint anti-rebels offensives had been conducted in different parts of the country in the past 24 hours.
Special operations against insurgents had been carried out in Logar, Khost, Maidan Wardak, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Herat, Baghlan, Balkh, Badakhshan and Helmand provinces, said the ministry.
The clashes have taken place at a time when Taliban rebels have paced up their attacks across Afghanistan capturing several districts in different parts of the country. (end) sbk.mb
