Cabinet condemns aggression on Saudi embassy, consulate in Iran

KUWAIT, Jan 4 (KUNA) -- The cabinet on Monday strongly condemned protesters' "hostile acts" against the Saudi embassy and consulate in Iran, including storming, torching and sabotage.
Today's meeting, held at Seif Palace, was chaired by Acting Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
The ministers stressed that these acts constitute "blatant violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 on a country's commitment to the protection of diplomatic missions and their premises, as well as the safety of staff, said Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.
Holding the Iranian authorities fully responsible for this, the cabinet reiterated that Kuwait stands side by side with the Kingdom, supporting all measures Riyadh adopts to maintain its security and stability.
As the meeting started, the meeting was informed of a message from the UN Development Program (UNDP) Administrator Helen Clark to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Clark highly appreciated Kuwait's contributions, initiatives and fruitful cooperation with the international community to assist the Syrian refugees.
Then, the meeting was notified of a message to His Highness the Amir from Mayor of the Japanese city of Hiroshima, Kazumi Matsui, who is also head of "Mayors for Peace." In his message, Matsui offered an account of the international organization, dedicated to the promotion of peace.
Meanwhile, the cabinet entrusted the expropriation department and the Public Authority for Housing Welfare, in cooperation with the State Property Management Department at the Ministry of Finance with taking the legal and administrative procedures to evacuate the rest of the residential units at Al-Sawaber Complex, downtown Kuwait, setting a deadline of 31 March 2016.
Also, the cabinet tasked the Kuwait Municipality with rapidly taking the necessary measures to evacuate the site adjacent for expanding the Entertainment City, for the Touristic Enterprises Company.
In the meantime, the cabinet approved a draft resolution on the issuance of by-law of child Law 21/2015.
The cabinet concluded today's customary meeting with a review of the political developments on the Arab and international scenes. (end) msa
