Pakistan, Qatar seek closer ties

ISLAMABAD, Dec 29 (KUNA) -- President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday said that Pakistan wants to promote its bilateral relations with Qatar in various fields.
Talking to a delegation of Qatari entrepreneurs led by Sheikh Falah Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani, brother of Ex-Prime Minister of Qatar in the federal capital Islamabad, the President said: "Our bilateral relations with Qatar are marked by brotherhood and a high degree of mutual trust." He urged for Muslim unity to surmount the challenges being faced by the Muslims across the world.
The President expressed hope that Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) would invest in various sectors of Pakistan particularly energy, infrastructure, and agriculture.
He appreciated Qatar's valuable support for early conclusion of Pak-GCC Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as early conclusion of Pak-GCC FTA would further strengthen economic and trade ties between Pakistan and the GCC countries.
He noted that Pakistani diasporas in Qatar are a strong bridge between the two countries, adding that Pakistan is looking for an expansion in its designated quota for Pakistani manpower for 2022 FIFA World Cup. (end) sbk
