17 more airstrikes target ISIL in Syria, Iraq

WASHINGTON, Dec 12 (KUNA) -- The US-led coalition against ISIL launched 17 airstrikes in Syria and Iraq Friday, the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) confirmed in a statement.
In Syria, fighter and remotely piloted aircraft carried out five airstrikes: Near Manbij, where one strike struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL building and an ISIL drone; and Near Mar'a, where four strikes struck four separate ISIL tactical units and damaged four ISIL buildings and wounded two ISIL fighters.
Meanwhile in Iraq, rocket artillery and fighter jets, along with bomber and remotely piloted aircraft carried out 12 airstrikes: Near Al Baghdadi, where one strike struck an ISIL tactical unit and wounded an ISIL fighter; Near Makhmur, where another strike struck an ISIL tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL fighting position; Near Mosul, where four strikes struck three separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed an ISIL light machine gun, three ISIL fighting positions, an ISIL heavy machine gun, an ISIL mortar tube, and suppressed an ISIL mortar position; Near Ramadi, where three strikes struck two separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed an ISIL anti-air artillery piece, an ISIL vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBIED), an ISIL fighting position, an ISIL vehicle, an ISIL weapons cache, and two ISIL assembly areas; and Near Sinjar, where the last three strikes struck two separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed an ISIL vehicle, an ISIL light machine gun, an ISIL fighting position, and an ISIL supply cache.
